On my walk the other day, I could not help but stop and wonder about the sight of these mailboxes. All I thought was “Out with the old, in with the new”…
Perhaps just celebrating a birthday year that seem to be very difficult for me for some reason brought those words to mind. Being a caretaker, it just seems as if this world prefers discarding the elderly rather than honoring them. And honestly there are days I feel invisible in this world around the younger generation!
As I have aged I seem to have more of a heart for the elderly. Some prefer caring for animals, some caring for children.
I am in awe of the history that the elderly carry with them. Secrets locked away, memories of history I may never have learned about… It all makes me wonder… They lived at my age at one point and now here they are… Some trapped in that same body and mind with a lifetime of memories…
I have always believed the greatest gift to give someone is the gift of a “Memory”… Creating memories for others is something they will have for a lifetime… Even for the elderly, it’s never to late to create a memory… Love someone today who was your age yesterday! You never know what you might learn, or the memory you may create!
In Awe of aging, but not in Love with it,
it all just makes me Wonder!
