Living Life Filled with Love, Awe and Wonder

The Journey

The future is near
The inevitable is clear…
Emotions run deep
A calm begins to seep.
Days go by
As I try
to understand the cycle of life.
Babies are born
Parents will be mourned
Life continues,
Days filled,
Choices made,
Strength, held closely…
A journey which makes you stronger
A heart breaks that much more…
Knowing the inevitable is clear
And the future is near…

Keuka Memories

My mind slips away
to a place,
where my breath is taken away.
The sun begins to set…
Moments of sunshine
glistening on the water.
Red, orange and yellow colors
fill the sky.
Memories of moments
never to be forgotten…
A lake,
Called Keuka.
A childhood,
filled with precious moments.
The sun sets over the hill,
Breathtaking moments.
The reflection on the water,
is like a priceless portrait…
A Picasso, a Monet, a Rembrandt…
Flashes of moments in time,
Memories of years gone by…
Pictures I hold in a vault,
Locked away in my heart…
The artist, my father.
A man who shared those moments for all his children to see…

Funny How Love is…

There’s all kinds of love. And in our lifetime we will experience many different kinds of love… First love, love of your life, love for your children, love of things, love of chocolate and so on…

The one love that’s has always been consistent for me, is my love for my father. I can’t explain why I have such a strong bond with this man but I always have. He is the one person who has never let me down, loved me unconditionally, and has been there for me no matter what. Not to mention, he has always believed in me.

Some believe parents and their children shouldn’t have “favorites”. But if personalities are so different then why wouldn’t certain people connect differently to each other? Including family members. And what’s the big deal if certain members are closer than others? It all goes back to acceptance… Just accepting what is!
Embracing our differences and accepting one another…
Love is a gift to give and receive.

Is there a love in your life that stands out? If so, why not embrace that love and hold on tight to its feeling…

In love, awe and wonder….

Love embraced
Love accepted
Love renewed

How Green is Your Grass?

“The grass isn’t always greener on the other side” popped into my head as I was waiting in the drive up line at Starbucks. Then I looked down and saw how green the grass was right in front of me… Of course it made me wonder… How often our life is blessed and yet we don’t see it that way. There’s green grass all around and you don’t have to look very hard. Keep your eyes open to the love, awe and wonder that surrounds you daily and you can’t miss the luscious green grass right in front of you!
And…
“Don’t forget to mow your own lawn, Others can tend to their own!”

Got MoJoy?

I got wondering about where the Joy in my life has been over the last number of months. I haven’t felt that inner joy in quite awhile. Stress is a huge culprit! I feel joy here and there but living joy filled daily is what I am seeking. Living love, awe and wonder daily is my dream, filled with joy of course!

As I wondered about my Joy, I thought I’ve lost my mojoy! Looking up the meaning of mojo and finding this…

“Mojo means “finding the magic in what we do”. To have “lost your mojo”, refers to a loss of inspiration or creative genius; a loss of that special spark. The word has been around for almost 100 years, one source cites its use to as early as 1926. Answers.com

Mojoy to me means, “finding the magic in who we are!” Not in what we do like mojo, but in just being present to who we are…

So I’m in awe and wonder about getting my mojoy back or maybe truly finding it for the first time in my life!

Got Mojoy?
Find the magic in who you are…

Consumed!

The overwhelming feeling of being consumed has taken over lately! I have been consumed with decisions for elderly parents. Consumed with my own personal life, or shall I say the lack of how I should be living my life! Consumed by technology and keeping up with all the extra nonsense of the amount of time it requires! And consumed with my own amount of overload and not being able to separate how quickly life seems to be passing me by and enjoying my life because of being so dam consumed!

So now what? My love, awe and wonder journey has been on hold, at least the book portion for over a year. The lessons of life continue to consume my thoughts… Watching, wondering and worrying about aging parents future and how to gently get them into the safest living environment is a huge challenge! Knowing my own mental health has been at risk lately because of being consumed… Doctors, caretakers, lawyer, bills and paperwork consumes me daily! Not to mention plain old worry!

I worry about my parents and how they will feel when they are moved… Parents that gave their children so much more than they ever had, including unconditional love. A childhood filled with wonderful memories, the best gift ever! And now
It’s the children’s turn to make tuff decisions. Seeing the situation daily has consumed my life… I’m exhausted, burned out emotionally! All, a journey to learn, grow and teach from…

As I continue to wake up in the early morning hours worrying and wondering what to do next… I write to calm my soul… Some people meditate, do yoga and such, I write…

In the stillness of the night…
In its darkness,
Questions are asked,
Worries are wondered
Thoughts are consumed.
Nighttime has a stillness
that lingers till morning…
More wonders are worried…
Consumed by thoughts,
In the stillness of the night.

Watchdog!

I’m thankful for my watchdog, and not the kind that bites either… Relaxing after Easter dinner and doing some laundry … Well, let me stop there…
I only do laundry while I’m home after a first floor laundry water disaster, which flooded my finished basement! What a nightmare… Having recently overpaid for an appliance guy to fix my washer it happened again! Except this time my “watchdog” was on high alert.
Thankfully having been told about a water alarm, another disaster was prevented… My sincere gratitude to the genius who came up with a watchdog water alarm… And if you have a first floor laundry, I highly recommend getting one for a peace of mind…
Thankfully bow wow and not boohoo!

Happy Easter

As I’ve aged I find holidays more confusing… There are the true meaning of the holidays and then there are all the holiday traditions encouraged by years of marketing.

So here we are yet again about to celebrate Easter. A Christian holiday celebrating Christ and his resurrection, the true meaning of Easter and yet…
Happy Easter is all you hear, chocolate and bunnies are all we see… As I was told several times yesterday “Happy Easter” it made me wonder… What most people were celebrating, including myself!

I googled where the word Easter came from, here’s what I found…

“The exact origins of this religious feast day’s name are unknown. Some sources claim the word Easter is derived from Eostre, a Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility. Other accounts trace Easter to the Latin term hebdomada alba, or white week, an ancient reference to Easter week and the white clothing donned by people who were baptized during that time.”
History.com
And honestly it want on and on…

As we all know, Christians celebrate Easter as the day Christ has risen…

Here’s what History.com has to say about the Christian aspect…

“Easter is really an entire season of the Christian church year, as opposed to a single-day observance. Lent, the 40-day period leading up to Easter Sunday, is a time of reflection and penance and represents the 40 days that Jesus spent alone in the wilderness before starting his ministry, a time in which Christians believe he survived various temptations by the devil. The day before Lent, known as Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday, is a last hurrah of food and fun before the fasting begins. The week preceding Easter is called Holy Week and includes Maundy Thursday, which commemorates Jesus’ last supper with his disciples; Good Friday, which honors the day of his crucifixion; and Holy Saturday, which focuses on the transition between the crucifixion and resurrection. The 50-day period following Easter Sunday is called Eastertide and includes a celebration of Jesus’ ascension into heaven.”

And then there are the candies, (peeps, jelly beans and chocolate bunnies to be exact) baskets, eggs, the Easter Bunny himself and by the way over 90 million chocolate bunnies are made every year…
Holiday traditions…
Makes me wonder…

Happy Easter
Happy Spring
Happy Resurrection…

What does Easter mean to you?

His Face

I looked up and saw his face.
Worn, sad, almost a lonely look.
His best friend of sixty years
no longer able to verbally communicate…
His body no longer able to do what he wants…
The look on his face
brought tears to mine.
I Walked away, but couldn’t stay away.
As I approached his room
He was lying lifeless on his bed
I called out to him… And said …
Want to go for a ride?
He looked up and moved slowly
And smiled…
I spent the next two hours with a man I love more than anyone…
Two more priceless hours of my time
Peaceful moments,
Quite moments,
Joyful moments,
Moments in time I will always cherish.
When I leave his side,
I leave a piece of my heart.
Every time…
Difficult times
Emotional times
Times that I will always hold dear.
For this man,
I will always love and care…
I love you daddy!

At the Hands of Technology

I’ve been “down” “off line” “had a glitch” lately, all because my iPhone wouldn’t let me log onto my blog site.
Today for some reason I’m “back on line” thankfully! This whole technology debacle makes me crazy!!! When it works it’s great, when there’s a glitch in the system, not so great!
So I’m back and I have a lot to say…
Stay tuned!
